Rewind: The Horse and His Boy

Okay - so you may remember from the previous post inquiring of what book I should undertake in the reading of. Well, I don't remember if I stated or not, this is the one that I chose.

I decided to get the best out of our temporary block scheduling for state testing and fly through this book. I made it through 2 chapters last night and 58 pages immediately following testing today, and honestly I cant conjure any better way that I could have spent my time... [except for maybe reading Allison's blog, but I did not have internet access nor a computer to aid me in this venture]

This book was absolutely brilliant. C.S. Lewis is absolutely brilliant. One of the most amazing things about his literary style is that although it was a Biblical allegory, therefore revealing the more obvious plot events, he still finds a riveting way of capturing your attention - and as cliche as it may be, [thus... the link], I really couldn't put it down!

Its so great too, having been that the last time I even touched one of these books was in like 3rd/4th grade, I did not nearly have the literary analysis skills that i now possess. There is so much art to the way he writes - things that stood out to me that previously i never would have noticed. There are so many brilliant sub-text pieces of foreshadowing and explanation that are just absolutely... brilliant!

Thank you C.S. Lewis for your contribution to the expansion of appreciative and creative spectra's of boys and girls all around the globe, and beyond.

Next book: Down and Out in Paris and London

[Brian, I am sorry for not finishing or returning this book to you any sooner - some how i got sidetracked and had to put it on the shelf, but this time i promise i'm gonna read it.]

the horse and his boy is a pretty solid book...

not as solid as the real life story "The Boy and his Golden Retriever" starring David and Abby Hughes.

...but close ;)
