The Body.
In the Bible, there is talk of the Christian community being a body, all made up of seperate parts working together as a whole and stuff.
I think sometimes it is like a starfish.

did you know starfish can regenerate themselves, even when most of their body is cut off? i bet it sucks a lot, and it probably takes a while, but it can make a whole new starfish out of just a little piece.

The saying that I go by is "The whole is greater than the sum of its parts." It is basically when a bunch of little things that are relatively insignificant on their own, get put together and become something amazing as a whole. Things such as communities, machines, music, marriages, and even the church. A community only works because each member does something unique to contribute to the well being of the others in the community, and by functioning it is inevitably contributing to the vision of that community. Or think about melody and harmony. Either one can isolated and experienced on its own but it is hearing them in conjunction that brings them to life.
well maybe if you and your sushi eating friends would stop eating all the starfish then the Body of Christ would be doing a whole let better eh?
that's what I thought. Just because my favorite restaurants don't smell like doheney, it doesn't mean I'm not cool too!
a starfish is kinda like a hand that wants to high five everybody so bad that it stretches its fingers out to the point where it is stretched too much. then nobody wants to high five it cause it looks like a mutant hand.
