book club

okay - so you might be looking at this page right now thinking... gosh - what a sorry blog.

well - i am trying to change that - and am inviting you to partake in an excellent new adventure in the world of blogs... my cyber book club.

[ no, its not an actual club - but just bear with me. ]

anyways - i have prepared a list of books that i am potentially going to be reading, and i would like a community vote on which one is most worthwhile.

[ Down and Out in Paris and London - George Orwell ]

[ The Screwtape Letters - C.S. Lewis ]

[ This Present Darkness - Frank Peretti ]

[ Harry Potter - J.K. Rowling ]
( not necessarily this one - just Harry Potter in general... )

[ The Chronicles of Narnia - C.S. Lewis ]
( again... just in general )

All right - if you have any suggestions, if you see any previous favorites of yours - let me know, i am very indecisive by nature, so any assistance would be much appreciated.

harry potter, definitely before the 7th one comes out. C'mon get in the game. Harry says he's leaving school in the 6th one, but then like where will Hogwarts be in the story? They gotta have Hogwarts. I don't know how Rowling'll do it, but she will.

CS Lewis is always good, I'm gonna read "mere christianity" soon.

I read, or rather, got read to, the chronicles of narnia in 2nd grade from my teacher...in canada. All but the last one. They're all really sweet. But not as good as these other books you listed.

My bro Ryan read all the Frank Peretti series..(Piercing the darkness and 2 others)

ya...

Is it bad that I was an English major and, out of this list have read only HP?

I vote for Great Gatsby (Fitzgerald). 1984 (Orwell). Franny and Zooey (Salinger). Catch-22 (Heller). Slaughterhouse 5 (Vonnegut).

My personal favorite: Heart-Breaking Work of Staggering Genius (Eggers). Talk to Hayden, he read it...he can thumbs-up, thumbs-down it.

hmmm...

I can honestly say I've never:

a. Read any harry potter book
b. Seen any harry potter movie

but I can say that I HAVE read this present darkness...and i am currently reading screwtape letters and mere christianity...

and I recommend that you read this present darkness...

but you can read screwtape letters are the same time because every chapter is about 3 pages long...it's like the equivalent to popping in a spiritual altoid.
